Hyaluronic Skincare: Choosing the Right Format

Maktafa offers hyaluronic care in gels, serums and creams. The ingredient name is only part of the decision: the product’s texture, role and other ingredients matter too.

Gel or serum

The Moisture Lock Gel and The Plumping Hydration Serum are hydration steps. Compare their complete formulas and the cream you plan to use afterwards. They are not cleansers or sunscreens.

A cream finish

The Dew Veil Cream and The Continuity Day Cream add facial moisture in a cream format. Check the volume: some sets contain a 15 ml cream, while selected rituals contain a 50 ml cream.

Two useful starting points

The Hydration Ritual includes cleansing, gel and a 15 ml cream. The Comfort Ritual includes gel, eye care and a 50 ml rich face cream, for use after your own cleanser.

Look at the whole formula

A familiar ingredient does not guarantee that every formula will suit your skin. Read the full ingredient lists and follow the directions for the product you choose.

What can hyaluronic acid skincare offer?

Hyaluronic acid formulas are chosen primarily for hydration and a smoother, plumper-looking finish. A study of one topical low-molecular-weight preparation assessed hydration, elasticity and wrinkles and reported improvements. It does not establish identical results for different formulas or molecular weights.

Begin · Focus · Complete

Begin with cleansing suited to your routine. Focus on a hydration step if you need one. Complete with your chosen cream according to its directions. You do not need to layer a gel and a serum simply because both feature hyaluronic acid.

Which format should I choose?

If you already enjoy your moisturiser, compare a gel or serum as a separate hydration step. If you want fewer steps, look at the whole cream formula first. Check how much face cream the set contains and whether you need to provide your own cleanser.
