Lactic Acid Skincare: An Occasional Evening Step

The Resurfacing Concentrate contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). In a Maktafa ritual, it is a separately scheduled product, not a universal daily finishing step.

Follow the concentrate’s directions

The current ritual guidance is evening use, initially 1–2 times a week. Introduce gradually, follow the packaging and avoid applying to irritated or broken skin. Do not turn several exfoliating products into one session.

Plan daytime sun protection

AHAs can increase sensitivity to sunlight. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure during use and for a week afterwards. Read the FDA’s AHA guidance.

Compare the two boxes

The Renewal Ritual pairs the concentrate with hydration gel and peptide serum. The Clarity Ritual includes a cleansing foam and local blemish product. Neither is a reason to apply every treatment together, and neither includes a face moisturiser or sunscreen.

For practical precautions, see Product Safety & Use.
