Understanding Certifications & Standards

Certification is meaningful when you know what it covers. Check the individual formula, the certifier and the scope of the certificate rather than assuming one statement covers a whole skincare collection.

Natural and organic certification

COSMOS NATURAL and COSMOS ORGANIC are different certification signatures. The official COSMOS website explains the standard and provides a directory of certified products. A raw-material certificate is not the same as certification of a finished retail product.

Manufacturing standards

Good Manufacturing Practice concerns how cosmetics are produced and controlled. It is distinct from organic certification and from evidence of a particular cosmetic result.

Vegan and animal-testing claims

These should be checked separately from natural or organic status and for the exact formula concerned.
